Australian Bespoke Collective is a boutique Australian company who own and operate a collection of destinations each offering unique services and experiences.

Mount Lofty House, Sequoia Lodge and The Reef House Adults Retreat form the collective, each unique in their style but consistent in the delivery of their luxury escapes.

Mount Lofty House & Estate, Sequoia Luxury Lodge and The Reef House Adults Retreat have reached key milestones in recent years in which many product developments, service enhancements and experience additions have been completed, matured, and refined. This has also been mirrored by investment in service, offering guests the best personalised customer service in Australia.

Directors David Horbelt and Malcolm Bean celebrate 16+ years of private ownership and operation during which they have invested heavily in curating a portfolio to deliver truly unique service and experience destinations that guests choose to return to year after year.

Each of the three Australian Bespoke Collective destinations continue to win awards, and are leaders in the annual TripAdvisor Awards.

Malcolm is a long-term hotel professional with career experience in Switzerland, England, Australia and New Zealand. He has worked in General Management, Sales and Marketing and Hotel Development. With 20 years’ experience under his belt, Malcolm moved into hotel Investment and consulting.

David Horbelt

Owner Sequoia Lodge, Mount Lofty House Estate, Co-Director The Reef House Adults Retreat.

David Horbelt is a long-time hotelier and custodian of Mount Lofty House purchased with the intent to return it to its former historical and lively glory.

A keen conservationist like original custodian Arthur Hardy, his first restorative efforts focused on the gardens at the 30-acre Estate. In 2021 David was the brainchild and designer of 14 luxurious suites built on the escarpment of the Estate overlooking the Piccadilly Valley, and aptly named it Sequoia Lodge.
